The House of Eliott

I'm currently watching a British series from the early 90s called The House of Eliott. It's so good I've even put my Korean dramas on hold for it.

It's a story set in 1920s London about two sheltered sisters raised in an upper class household who are suddenly forced to fend for themselves when their father dies leaving them with nothing. With their natural gifts and talents, they start a fashion business and so begin their adventures in life and love.

At first, I didn't think I would like this series because it was made in the early 90s. Given the technology then, TV shows made during that time usually have stilted cinematography, giving them a 'soap opera' look. However, after a strong recommendation from a couple of my friends, I gave it a chance. Now, I am absolutely in love with it.

I love the acting, the plot moves at a rapid pace, and the viewer becomes quite attached to the two main characters. You root for them, you are inspired by them, and you feel all their emotions so acutely. The characters start to feel like family after a while.

The series has also given me a greater appreciation for fashion and the art of making clothes, the detail that goes into it, the artistic talents of the creators, as well as the stress and financial aspects that come with running a startup business.

The House of Eliott is an absolute gem, and I'm so glad I discovered it.
