Movie Rave: The Last Station
I just watched this movie last night, and I cried buckets. It's a film about the last days of Leo Tolstoy's life, specifically how his personal life was affected by the Tolstoyan movement which was centered on his philosophical and spiritual ideas. Overall, the film was wonderful, but what really drew me to it was the relationship between Tolstoy and his wife Sophia which was so incredibly passionate, tumultuous, but also touching and heart wrenching. The actors' performances were also astounding. Helen Mirren, Christopher Plummer and James McAvoy all delivered excellent portrayals of their characters. I highly recommend it.
